‘I hope that, one day, our world will be peaceful and loving, with no violence at all’

Hello again from everyone at the OM@home blog, a blog about children and young people, written for children and young people . . . .

For young people just like you, about young people who inspire us here at OM HQ.

Young people like the children of Newtown . . . .

Ingrid Michaelson, Newtown children, Newtown survivors, Newtown charity song

The ones who made it out that terrible morning, that is . . .

Some might think them lucky, but the truth is that they’re far from fortunate. They’ve all seen, for instance, some horrible things, experienced tremendous pain and suffered great losses.

For them, the anguish endures. That they’re standing tall and standing together, being so brave and using an episode that redefines ‘tragic’ in an attempt to do some good couldn’t inspire us more.

Take Max Goldstein, for instance, a 12-year-old computer fanatic who has spent recent weeks encouraging other children to follow his lead and get rid of their violent video games . . .

Or Casey, Cayden and CJ, three Newtown siblings who designed, made and sold wristbands proclaiming ‘We are Newtown’, raising more than $10,000 to benefit the Sandy Hook families and, just as importantly, helping to bring people together in the process . . .

Then there are those who, alongside the super-talented singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, joined together to record a special song.

Raising funds and doing good, this touching track demonstrates that for all they’ve been through, their spirit remains strong. That they’re following the right path in life. That each one of them understands the importance of community, kindness and connection. Please take five minutes to watch this short film. It is guaranteed to inspire:

There’s not much more to add, although before we go, we’d just like to underline what three of the young people featured in the film had to say . . .

‘I really want to be kind to the people who have lost their loved ones and help them recover from their sorrow.’

‘We just want to help them any way we can to feel better and not alone.’

‘I hope that, one day, our world will be peaceful and loving, with no violence at all.’

Something for us all to think about . . .

Newtown, Ingrid Michaelson, Newton children, survivors, charity song, OM by Miquette, we are all connected,

We are all connected.
